The Kenya Alliance of Resident Associations (KARA) made significant strides in building and strengthening its strategic partnerships through a series of courtesy calls to key partners. These visits underscored KARA’s commitment to fostering collaborative efforts aimed at enhancing access to better service delivery and addressing pressing urban challenges.
One of the highlights of the month was KARA\’s meeting with Kengen Foundation. During this visit, KARA team led by CEO Henry Ochieng discussed ongoing projects and explored new areas of collaboration, particularly in Environmental Sustainability through environmental restoration & tree growing in neighborhoods, schools, public institutions and water catchment areas across Kenya. Both parties also acknowledged the urgent need to address climate change issues and the need for awareness creation and dissemination of the Citizens’ Handbook on Climate Change that was recently published by KARA.
KARA\’s engagement with the Embassy of Finland marked another significant step. The discussions revolved around strengthening democracy and good governance through civic education and awareness campaigns so as to increase citizen voice and participation in governance and decision-making processes in Kenya, and empowerment of women and youth in the communities.
KARA’s visit to Britam Foundation highlighted the importance of empowering communities through holistic health, quality education, sustainable environments. The meeting explored new areas of collaboration, particularly in mental health awareness; promoting inclusion and quality education for children with disabilities in low resource residential areas and environmental conservation in the neighborhoods.
