Kara holds forum to enhance public awareness on Nakuru Vision 2050
Kara CEO, Mr. Henry Ochieng, noted that residents of Nakuru City play a critical role in the decision-making processes of the City’s development agenda, He stated that the forum aimed at establishing and creating awareness to the residents on a roadmap to the development and actualization of the City Vision 2050.
Planner Joakim Nyarangi, President of Kenya Institute of Planners (KIP) noted that the adoption and implementation of the Nakuru City Vision 2050 will be a significant step towards achieving sustainable development through the localization of the UN Sustainable Development Goals to enhance the quality of life for residents of Nakuru City.
Other speakers who addressed the forum were Dr. Isaac Sopia, Lecturer. Kenya Methodist University and Planner James Muchoma, Independent Consultant.
It was clear from participants that there is a lot of interest on the Vision 2050 and hence need for frequent and structured engagements between the County Government, Nakuru City Board and the residents to enhance awareness and ownership of the plan. The City Planner noted that the document will be subjected to extensive public participation that will commence at Ward levels in consultation with all stakeholders.
