As you may be aware, the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is a locally appropriate means of improving the quality of public transport provision in many cities around the world.

It has the potential to significantly enhance the social mobility of those that live and work in the cities, benefiting growth in the local economy and offering significant environmental benefits.

There are plans to develop BRT system in Nairobi to serve the corridor from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to James Gichuru Road. In developing the design and implementation plan for the system, it is important that key stakeholders are involved and their views taken into consideration. In this regard, and in the spirit of public participation, The Kenya Alliance of Resident Associations (KARA) is collaborating with the lead project consultant, Integrated Transport Planning Limited (ITP), to create awareness about the concept of the BRT and obtain stakeholders views on their expectations and probable challenges that the system may face.
