98% of Nairobi residents support lower speed limits around schools while 68% support lower speed limits in the city.


This is according to an opinion poll results conducted by Ipsos in collaboration with Center for Sustainable Urban Development of Columbia University and The Kenya Alliance of Resident Associations (KARA). The poll focused on diverse areas including policy making and consultation, car ownership and usage, current situation on transportation in Nairobi City County, attitudes towards Non Motorized Transport, children and school transport, road accidents, future considerations on transportation in Nairobi City County and air quality in Nairobi City County.

The results were officially released at a forum held on Wednesday, 17th June 2015 at Panafric Hotel, Nairobi. The poll also found that 89% of Nairobians feel that they are not consulted when decisions about transportation are made contrary to the provisions of the Constitution that demand for adequate public consultation in decision making process.
