The government will activate community policing to enhance community participation in the fight against corona virus disease.

During a media update on corona virus, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the initiative will help the government to arrest infected people sneaking into the country across its borders before they can begin spreading the virus locally. The community policing will use Nyumba Kumi initiative, community health workers, public health officers, multi-agency teams at road blocks besides utilizing technology in tracking and surveillance of post curfew congregations.

The CS noted that the security agencies are using Nyumba Kumi security clusters to identify visitors and family members recently returned from counties with corona virus cases. As a safety precaution, the visitors are asked to self-quarantine at their homes for 14-days even when they do not exhibit signs of the dreaded pathogen before mingling freely with the rest of the community.
