The Nairobi City Water & Sewerage Company (NCWSC) will collaborate with Kara in addressing water & sanitation challenges in the city.

This was the message by Eng. Nahason Muguna, the Ag. Managing Director, Nairobi City Water & Sewerage Company, when he addressed Kara members during the Kara Annual General Meeting.

Eng. Muguna stated that the company had laid out its plans to improve water services across the city, which include the development of the Northern Water Collector Tunnel that shall add 140,000 cubic meters of water supply in Nairobi. The project is expected to be completed in December 2019. He said that the Company had also developed new pipelines and sewer lines that will improve services in most parts of the city. He however pointed out that the water demand is much higher than the supply and the situation is not likely to change soon even with the investments being made to increase supply. To address this challenge, Water Rationing Programme (Equitable Water Distribution Programme) has been established to manage water supply across the City and ensure that as many residents of Nairobi as possible have access to water services.

Kara members pledged to support the Company in its effort to improve services to Nairobi residents. A collaboration framework between Kara and the Company will be established to facilitate effective partnership between the two entities.
