As part of efforts to push for implementation of the Nairobi Non Motorized Transport (NMT) Policy as well as document the process of developing the Policy,

Kara partnered with Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, to develop a case study for the NMT Policy, create a popular version of the Policy and formulate a strategy to popularize the Policy to the public.  To achieve the objectives, a team consisting of officials from Kara and postgraduate students from the Columbia University held consultative meetings with various stakeholders in the transport sector, in order to get their perspectives and views on the various aspects of Nairobi NMT policy and its implementation.

The case study shall feature the milestones, challenges, lessons learnt during the formulation and enactment of the policy. The implementation strategy will provide recommendations for future activities/initiatives that need to be undertaken to ensure effective implementation of the policy. Kara will share the final documents with stakeholders as soon as they are finalized.
