Nyeri Residents have urged the County Government to facilitate structured public participation and ensure that their views and expectations are reflected in the final development decisions.

Speaking at the Kara Bimonthly Talk Series (BTS) Forum held in Nyeri, participants challenged County Government to implement the Nyeri County Public Participation Act 2015, which provides a mechanism for involvement and participation of stakeholders in decision making.

The County Executive Committee Member for Public Service Ms. Beth Njeri assured participants that the County Government will put in place more platforms for engaging the residents and obtaining feedback from them. She asked participants to organize themselves into Resident Associations or community organizations to facilitate structured engagement with the government.

The Kara BTS forums are organized with support from Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) and provides a platform for engagement on topical service delivery agenda. The forums bring to light discussions from various points of view, Government on one hand and civil society, private sector and development partners on the other. Issues and resolutions made at the forums form the basis of advocacy work by Kara and its members.
