After successfully facilitating development and enactment of Resident Associations Engagement Act for Nairobi and Kiambu Counties,

Kara intends to work with various stakeholders in Machakos County to have a similar law in place. Speaking during a meeting between Kara and officials of Syokimau Residents Association (SRA), Kara CEO Mr. Ochieng said that strong and sustainable engagement between Resident Associations and County Governments will require legislative framework that promotes partnership and guides the various parties on specific areas of collaboration.

It was agreed that Kara will partner with SRA as well as other Resident Associations in Machakos County and Machakos County Government to come up with a legislation that is responsive to the needs and expectations of Machakos residents. The SRA officials, through their Chairman Mr. Mohammed Ismail expressed willingness to be part of the process and agreed to identify other stakeholders in Machakos County and have them participate in having the law in place. SRA is one of the model Resident Associations that has recorded notable milestones as far as championing the interest of its members is concerned.
