The Kara Annual General Meeting (AGM) was successfully held on 31st March 2017 at the secretariat offices.
Besides the standard AGM agenda items, the meeting also considered and endorsed Dr. Peter Hermann to fill up the vacant position in the Governing Council. Dr. Hermann was appointed by the Governing Council as per Article 7, Section 8 of the Kara constitution after an elaborate process and presented to the AGM for endorsement. Dr. Hermann is an expert in Human Resources and Organisation Development. He possesses valuable experience as team leader, project manager and adviser in projects of the German Organisation for International Development (GIZ), consulting firms (GOPA, RODECO, Integration), the Friedrich Naumann Foundation and German Agro Action.
He also worked as programme officer with UNIDO/UNDP and a German NGO in his earlier years. From September 2014 until May 2016 he was the team leader of the DFID funded Kuza project in Mombasa, which addressed the high youth unemployment through different interventions. He is a Director at Loresho North Resident Associations.
The meeting also re-elected five Governing Council members whose term had expired but offered themselves for re-election as per Article 7 section 4 of the Kara Constitution. Those re-elected were: Messrs Richard Nyaga - Chairman, Alfred Osur - Secretary, Ephraim Kanake - Treasurer Dr. Esther Getambu – Vice Chairperson and Ms. Charitie Kioko – Member
