KARA participated in Nairobi Governor’s round table meeting with Business Membership Organizations (BMO) where various service delivery issues were discussed.

The issues included decongestion of roads, solid waste management, uncontrolled development, illegal structures, land grabbing, cashless payment, street lighting, security, County fees and charges, overlapping regulations, inter-County business challenges among others

Speaking at the forum, the Governor, Dr. Evans Kidero acknowledged that there are some challenges affecting efficient & effective service delivery and said that the County Government is ready to work with various stakeholders towards finding sustainable solutions. As part of the plans to strengthen partnership with various stakeholders, the Governor stated that he had assented to the Nairobi City County Community and Neighborhood Associations Engagement Bill, 2015 which will ensure better working relations with the Residents Associations. The Governor called for regular meetings with stakeholders and proposed that the roundtable meeting be done on a quarterly basis.

The meeting was also attended by the County Executive Committee members who responded to specific questions within their dockets. Other organizations represented at the meeting included: Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM), Kenya National Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), Kenya Motor Industry Association (KMIA), Kenya Security Industry Association (KSIA), United Business Association (UBA), Motor Riders Association, Public Transport Operators Union, Retail Trade Association of Kenya and the Ruaraka Business Community (RUBICOM).
